The Shakespeare Rumor

One rumor has it that the great William Shakespeare (1564-1616) even helped with part of it. Indeed, in Psalms 46, the 46th word from the beginning is "shake." The 46th word from the end (not counting the punctuation word "selah") is "spear" William Shakespeare was 46 years old in 1610. Commissioned in 1604, the King James Version was finished and formally published in 1611. If anyone had command of the English language sufficient to pull this off, it surely would have been The Bard himself.  Psalms 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 46:2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; 46:3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.
