Discussion Issue:
Fiscal Conservatism vs. Religious Conservatism
Facts, factoids, concerns, considerations:
- Some people are "Conservatives" because they believe the government is too big, there are too many taxes, and the government deficet spending is simply steeling from future generations. [1]
- Other people are "Conservatives" because they believe that fundamental religious and moral values are being compromised in such areas as:
- Abortion
- Prohibiting prayer in public schools
- Sex eduction other than abstinence
- Homosexual behaviors
- Theory of evolution
- Other than literal interpretation of the Christian Bible
- etc.
- The latter group (religious conservatives) is fragmented as they do not all share the same views on some of these issues.
- This is a "fully predictable result" of disagreement within "Conservative" political groups.
