Originally founded by the late Jerry Farwell as the "Moral Majority," the movement fragmented and was dissolved in the late 1980's.
Today, a number of different groups make up the Moral Minority.
As the Moral Minority, we believe in
staunch patriotism, "Christian values," capitalism, and a strong military.
We believe in
individual rights (including property rights) and
laissez-faire capitalism, enforced by a constitutionally-limited government.
We support:
- Prayer in school and public meetings
- Supply-side and trickle-down economics
- Tax exemption for Christian Churches, Christian Schools, Christian publishing and broadcasting.
- Tax deduction for contribution to Christian organizations
We oppose:
- Abortion
- Homosexuality actions, including gay unions and so-called gay "marriages"
- Gun control
- Taxes
- Public education
- Regulations on our businesses, regardless what they may be.
We endorse the following litmus test:Note 1
- We support smaller government, smaller national debt, lower deficits and lower taxes by opposing government "stimulus" bills as initiated by President G.W.Bush and subsequently perpetuated by President Obama and Congress.
- We support market-basedNote 2 health care reform and oppose all government-run health care programs, such as Medicare, Veterans health care, Federal Employees Health Benefit Program (FEHBP), etc..
- We support market-basedNote 2 energy reforms (that promote the development and use of American oil, gas, and coal) by opposing cap and trade legislation.
- We support workers' right to secret ballot by opposing card check.
- We support legal immigration and assimilation into American society by opposing amnesty for illegal immigrants, but allow the unlimited hiring of foreign workers (e.g., H-1B)
- We support victory in Iraq and Afghanistan by supporting military-recommended troop surges, preferably sending troops from the individual state militias (i.e., National Guard) with generous contracted support from American contractors.
- We support containment of Iran and North Korea, particularly effective action to eliminate their nuclear weapons threat (and, if necessary, the use of nuclear action to eliminate such nuclear risks.)
- We support retention of the Defense of Marriage Act.
- We support protecting the lives of vulnerable persons by opposing health care rationing and denial of health care and government funding of medically-assisted life termination (such as, abortion).
- We support the right to keep and bear arms and the American Arms Industry by opposing government restrictions on gun ownershipNote 3
We claim our right to do anything not prohibited by the constitution.
We claim our right to not have to do anything not required by the constitution.
We claim our right to assemble in any size group we desire. (Art.I)
We claim our right to protect our property.
As we support our causes, we rally around such national personalities as:
- Pat Robertson
- Ex.Gov.Palin
- Mike Huckabee
